Dear Parents and Children,
We are so pleased to welcome you back to school. we hope you managed to have a relaxing summer and are ready to start an exciting new school year. Our main topic this term is The Artic and we will also be investigating Forces within Science. We hope that you enjoy the new challenges and approaches to learning that this year has to offer.
Homework is set on a Thursday and children have until the following Tuesday to complete the set tasks. Each child will be set spellings following a particular pattern or rule, which will be recorded in their reading records. If your child needs a new reading record this year please let me know.
English and Maths homework will be set weekly. Times tables homework will be set on ‘Timestable Rockstar’. Login details will be stuck in the front of their reading records. If you have trouble accessing the internet or experience any ‘technical difficulties’ please let me know.
We would like each child to read at least 3 times a week to an adult at home, talking about what they have read. If your child reads at least 3 times a week and this is recorded in their record book (signed and dated by an adult) they will receive extra house points. As well as reading at home children will also have lots of opportunities to read and enjoy texts throughout the week at school.
The children will be doing double PE on Thursday. Children will need to bring their PE kit into school on a Thursday and return home with it at the end of the day so the ‘cloakroom’ area is clear.
Their kit should include; shorts, tee-shirt and plimsolls/trainers. When the weather gets colder they can wear tracksuits for outside. Please clearly label all items.
The children must bring in their own water bottle to keep in class which they can access throughout the day. Please ensure water bottles are also clearly labelled. Children can also bring a piece of fruit to eat as a snack at break time.
We hope this letter has answered many of your questions but please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything else you would like to know.
Miss Lucy Sheen and Mrs Sharon Aiken.
