Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to our Spring Term. We hope that you have had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

This term our topic is all about Chocolate! This just happens to me one of my favourite things!

As part of our topic the children will learn the history of chocolate and where it comes from. In addition to this we will be visiting Cadburys World on March 4th. This will be a great opportunity for the children to see how chocolate is made and learn about Cadburys.

A letter will be going out about this very soon!

In our English lessons we will create our own fact files and write stories based upon Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In maths we will focus on division and multiplication as well as completing our big maths and times tables tests each week.

Please continue to practise your children’s times tables at home. If you would like any tasks to complete at home with your children please just ask.

Our PE lessons will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays.  We will be taking part in outdoor games and dance this term.

In our RE sessions we will be learning about some different celebrations including Easter.

Homework will continue to be sent home on a Wednesday and collected in on a Tuesday. Homework will include: spellings (set within phonics groups) and a piece of maths and English homework. Please continue to read with your child at home. Each time your child reads at home they will be awarded a reading raffle ticket.

The children will be asked to change their books on a Monday and Friday but are welcome to do so in between if needed. Mrs Dilks and I will be reading with all of the children in school too.

As the year progresses I will be continuing to award pen licences to the children as a reward and to encourage continued neat handwriting. The licence will only be revoked if the child does not do their best handwriting 3 times. If this is the case the child can then earn it back by showing beautiful handwriting again.

If you have any questions about your child’s progress or well-being please feel free to ask.

Hopefully the weather will begin to improve as this term progresses and we will be able to use our lovely outside reading area more often. On Wednesday morning before school begins I will be welcoming all KS2 parents and children to come and share a book in our school library and on Thursdays for KS1.

Mrs Dilks and I look forward to working with your children again this term!
