At our school the day starts at 8:40am when the gates automatically open and the playground is supervised. Our day is longer than some other local schools and ends at 3:30pm.
To support our village community our school travel plan is that families who must use cars should park at the Village Hall. This avoids School Lane being dangerous to those Reception parents arriving at school with babies and young children who need good visibility and also to other road users.
If you arrive at our lower School Lane entrance by the Victorian block and you need to speak to office staff please come up to the office area and buzz for entry.
All children in Y2-6 should arrive at the playground entrance.
Staff are available for brief conversations on the playground at 8:45am e.g about changes to collection or dentist appointments. If you need a longer chat please make an appointment to talk privately with staff in school. Staff are generally available from 8:15am or after 3:40pm.
Please note that staff regularly (usually monthly) have to leave our school for training with the other MAT schools and are not available on these days.
Children should be on the playground by 8:45am, it is manned by Mrs Dilks from 8:40am so you do not need to stay with your child once you have dropped them off. Children will be collected from the playground by staff and taken into school for registration at 8:55am. First lessons begin at 9am. (Please note if your child arrives after 9:05am the Government guidance states that this is an unauthorised absence which is what our automated attendance system records. Please ensure your child is punctual.)
Children in Reception and Year 1 in the Victorian Block should be outside the door for 8:45am and the register is also at 8:55am. Children in this class must be taken into class by an adult.
Children have breaks at 10:40am-10:55am.
Key Stage 1 pupils have lunch from 12:15pm-1:15pm and Key Stage 2 pupils from 12:30pm-1:30pm.
KS1 pupils have an afternoon break.
All pupils end school at 3:30pm.
At 3:30pm children in Y2-5 should be collected by parents from their classrooms. Older siblings who are aged 14 or older (ROSPA and safeguarding guidance) are able to collect younger siblings. If your child is going home with someone different please let the office know so that staff can be aware of this before the end of the day. It is best to ring or email before midday in case office staff are out of the office in the afternoon. We may ask relatives to use a code-word if they are new to us, this will be given to them by the office.
Children in Reception and Y1 will be collected by adults from the classroom. The class operates a “revolving door” system – please enter the classroom via the nearest door where children will be on the carpet waiting with the member of staff. Please exit via the far door (near the messy area).
