Welcome to Wilbarston C of E Primary School. I am the new Headteacher and thank you for exploring our website to find out more about our amazing school. We encourage you to visit our school to see lessons in action, children excited about their learning and an environment which enables children to thrive and excel.
At Wilbarston, we ensure children are happy and cared for and their needs are at the heart of everything we plan and do. We also recognise and value the contributions that parents can make to ensure that every child enjoys coming to school and fulfils their potential.
As a staff, we work hard to provide a welcoming, stimulating and calm environment that motivates and inspires each child so they feel confident to stretch and challenge themselves and their peers; embrace every opportunity and develop a love of learning.
We work hard to develop a curriculum that is engaging for every child so they become ambitious learners and have a constant desire to improve. We provide opportunities for children to practise learnt skills so they are able to transfer this knowledge to support their understanding of new concepts. This approach to learning, with support of their teachers, enables them to identify their strengths and weaknesses and ask for support where appropriate.
At Wilbarston, we provide individual praise and feedback for every child and encourage children to provide the same to their peers so we develop a culture of positivity where everyone feels supported and valued. Alongside this and through careful scaffolding, we encourage children to observe and encourage others which provides them with opportunities to provide sensitive feedback to each other.
Wilbarston Primary School is situated in beautiful countryside and we have wonderful school grounds so children have space to work indoors and out and we actively encourage them to work safely and sensibly with each other and independently. As a school, we believe that we are equipping them with key learning behaviours that will support them as they progress into secondary school and adult life.
We are a happy and caring school where children “get off to a flying start” Ofsted. (2019) and “every child is personally known” SIAMS. (2021) and we would encourage you to come and visit our wonderful school.
Best wishes
Maria Hawkes (Headteacher)
