As a Church of England school with strong Christian vision and values we want our children to grow up and be part of a kind and caring school community which values everyone for who they are and celebrates difference. We are all God's children. We want children to be able to enjoy all aspects of school life and be happy and secure whilst in our care, as our vision states; "Jesus said, I have come that you may life, life in all its fullness." All adults are role models for pupils and we stress the Christian ethic of treating others as you would like to be treated. 

Having consulted with the parents, staff and children, it has been decided that bullying can be described as a deliberate action(s) in order to hurt or upset someone. It may hurt someone physically or it may hurt his or her feelings. Bullying is continued, repeated and personal rather than one off acts of aggression. It is important to recognise the difference between bullying and boisterous, thoughtless behaviour.

Throughout the year we have focused teaching which teaches children what bullying is, what to do if it happens to them or to a friend/someone in school.  We take part in Anti-Bullying national events and at other points in the year we revisit the theme to keep it high profile.  We encourage our school leaders on the School Council and our House Captains to have a pastoral role in supporting others by being vigilant against this behaviour. Our children tell us they enjoy school and feel safe; bullying is rare and is dealt with by staff when we know about it (children's surveys).
